Scientifica Patchstar Micromanipulator for Electrophysiology

The ideal electrophysiology micromanipulator for single channels to in vivo field recordings is the globally recognised PatchStar micromanipulator from Scientifica. It is the micromanipulator of choice for electrophysiological recordings, patch clamping, sharp electrode recording, microinjection and stretch testing.

The stable design and ultra-quiet electronics mean you can perform long-term patch clamp experiments and record even the smallest signals. The PatchStar's compact footprint and incredible versatility means it can be configured to fit around any sample, at any angle, in vitro or in vivo. The intelligent design and automated control enable you to reliably change and position your electrodes quickly and easily with super-smooth precision.

Designed with high quality materials and assembly for the accurate (and repeatable) placement of recording and stimulating electrodes - crucial for electrophysiology experiments and can be mounted next to both upright and inverted microscopes

Benefits include less than 1um drift over 2 hours for long-term experiments and 20 nm electronic resolution for absolute positioning with 3 orthogonal and 4th virtual axes. The minimum speed is 1µm per second and maximum speed 4mm per second. It is easily switchable between left and right-handed configurations and is electrically quiet for recordings of extremely small signals without having to switch off the motors. It runs on LinLab software for Windows.
